What I learned from my dog - Power napping !

Updated: Mar 12, 2023

We all know that feeling - the mid-afternoon slump where all you want to do is curl up and take a nap. Well, it turns out that feeling is more than just a craving for a cozy bed. Napping has a ton of health benefits that can actually improve our physical and mental well-being. My 6 year old husky-shepard mix dog Nami loves to nap. To be precise, she is a queen of Power nap ! She runs around like a puppy then next minute, she is in deep sleep. I am so amazed how she can switch from super active to super relaxed in no time. I really admire this ability and I believe this is probably how she keeps her mental and physical health. Scientifically, it is well known that Napping can help improve cognitive function, memory, and creativity. When we take a nap, our brain has a chance to recharge and process information, allowing us to better retain and recall information. Napping can also be a great stress reliever. A quick power nap can help reduce cortisol levels in the body, which is the hormone responsible for stress. Lowering cortisol levels can help decrease feelings of anxiety and improve overall mood. Furthermore, napping can improve our physical health as well. Studies have shown that regular napping can lower the risk of heart disease and other cardiovascular issues. Additionally, napping can help boost the immune system, keeping us healthy and able to fight off illness.So.........next time you feel the urge to take a nap, don't feel guilty - embrace it ❤️ In fact, I am about to take a power nap now. Took a day off from work to prepare for " Atmospheric river storm" Perfect day to practice Power Napping zzzzzz .
